Your First Day on OurSocial

Follow these steps in order the first time you use OurSocial.

Check your inbox for a verification email right after signing up. Most of the app stays locked until you click the link in it. See Signing Up and Logging In if it doesn’t arrive.

Go to Brands and click Create Your First Brand. All you need is a name — you can fill in everything else next. See Creating and Setting Up a Brand for the full walkthrough.

A new brand starts in “onboarding” — most of the sidebar stays greyed out until you’ve added at least one thing in every one of these tabs on your brand’s page:

  • Info — your brand’s description, at least one location, at least one content channel, and at least one content schedule
  • Audience — at least one audience profile
  • Kit — brand colors, fonts, and a voice/tone description
  • Assets — at least one uploaded file
  • Competitors — at least one competitor
  • Pillars — at least one content pillar with at least one sub-pillar
  • Timeline — at least one timeline entry
  • Playbook — at least one section with a rule or category filled in

Once all of these are done, a “Ready to Launch” banner appears — click Complete Onboarding to unlock the rest of the app.

If you’re working with others, open your brand’s settings and invite them by email — you’ll pick a role for them when you do. Not required to finish onboarding, but worth doing early if this is a team effort.

Head to Create > Design and make your first design using your brand’s colors and assets. See Using the Design Editor.

Open Organize > Ideas and jot down something you want to post about. See Planning Content with the Ideas Board.

If you want OurSocial to track your social accounts, add them under your brand’s Discover tab. See Connecting Accounts to Track.

Whenever you’re stuck, open Guides from your profile menu (bottom of the sidebar). The guides open at docs.oursocial.co, where you can search for a topic or browse by category. You can also ask Orsa. This checklist only covers day one; every other part of the app has its own guide there.
